BUSINESS BRIEFS

• The Starbucks at Bellair Plaza has closed.
• The ABC Liquor Store at 1368 Ocean Shore Blvd. has closed. Rumor has it that it was a corporate decision. This will make the folks at the new Publix Liquor Store happy.
• The Sun Dollar Boutique has opened at Granada Plaza, 171 E. Granada Blvd in Ormond Beach. This is not a high priced boutique since there are many items for $1 - $5. Current items include children’s, accessories, bath & body. Store hours are 10:0a.m. to 5:30p.m. Daily and 10:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. Sunday.
• Bicentennial Park in Ormond By The Sea, Florida has be renamed Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park. Mr. Crotty, a lifelong area resident and attorney died in an automobile crash last year. He worked tirelessly with many area charities and youth organizations. He graduated from Father Lopez High School and Stetson Law School. The County Council voted unanimously to rename the park in honor of Mr. Crotty

• The new North Shore Park has been renamed to honor Al Weeks for his service to Ormond By The Sea
• Bicentennial Park now has a fenced in area for dogs to run free. There are separate areas for small dogs and large dogs.
• Joanne's Beach Street Cafe is now open at 168 N Beach St., Daytona Beach
• Ormond Beach Farmers’ Market Every Thursday 8 AM to 1 PM 25 Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach Florida, at the east end of the Granada Bridge in Rockefeller Gardens. • First Crush Wine is now open at 175 S Nova Rd Ste 5C, Ormond Beach Florida
• Lagerheads Bar and Grill is open about 6 miles north of Granada Blvd on A1A in Ormond By The Sea Florida, the former location of Chillin’ Out.
• The Daytona 500 is one of the most valuable sports brands worldwide according to Forbes Fab 40. The great American race rated in the top ten for the third consecutive time. The complete list is at www.forbes.com.
• Food Lion Closing. As of February 15, 2012 the last of the Food Lion Supermarkets in Volusia and Flagler County will be closed. The last Flagler Beach store on Route 100 closed in 2009. In addition to the Ormond Beach store at 101 E. Granada, stores in New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange are also closing. There were a total of 8 stores in the Volusia and Flagler market at one time. After February 15, 2012 there will be none. The Food Lion chain is owned by a Brussels, Belgium based company who has indicated the need to close underperforming locations.
